Compared to last report: Trade activity and demand were moderate to good.
Retail hay demand were steady.
Dairy and Export hay demand were moderate to good.
In the Sacramento Valley and North San Joaquin Valley, strong winds stopped
growers from making hay.
According to the NASS field crops, in the Sacramento Valley, some field
work was stopped due to rain.
Rice planting continued.
Corn fields continued to grow.
Along the Central Coast, hay was cut and baled.
In the San Joaquin Valley, cotton planting continued as weather allowed.
In Tulare County, forage crop harvests neared completion.
Cotton fields that have been planted were sprouting.
Alfalfa fields were irrigated with some fields mowed and baled.
Corn fields were growing well.
The next available hay report will be Friday, May 17, 2024.
